The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended 25-year-old, Aron Hassan on charges of allegedly stealing electric cables worth about N500,000 in the Igbesa community, located in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
PUNCH Online gathered that the suspect was arrested at his place of employment on February 11, 2025, while cutting the cable wires.
Confirming the arrest on Wednesday, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, stated that the suspect did not dispute the allegations and will face charges in court.
“On February 12, 2025, at approximately 9:30 am, Yakubu Mohammad, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Quantum Company, Igbesa, reported a theft incident at our station. According to Mohammad, on February 11, 2025, around 11:00 am, security personnel caught Aron Hassan, a 25-year-old casual staff member, cutting cable wires valued at ₦500,000.
“Upon interrogation, Hassan failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for his actions. We documented the case and referred it to the District Criminal Bureau (DCB). Statements from both parties were recorded, and Mohammad noted that Hassan did not deny the allegations, our team visited the scene of the crime, took photographs, and will be charging Hassan in court.”
PUNCH Online earlier reported that the Ogun State Police Command arrested two suspects, Agbo Jeremiah, 34, and Sunday Ngbuta, 29, for alleged vandalism and theft of cable wires and iron rods at Ogunmakin in the Owode Egba area of the state.
According to the report, the suspects’ arrest was facilitated by a vigilant driver who transported them and the stolen goods. The driver’s suspicions about the items prompted police to stop and search the vehicle, resulting in the apprehension of the two suspects.
