Police arrest robbery suspect, recover stolen motorcycle in Bauchi

Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command, in their efforts to combat crime and ensure public safety, have arrested one Abdulrashid Abubakar for robbery and recovered a stolen motorcycle.

According to a press release issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, on Friday, a distress call was received from residents of Guru village, reporting an incident involving unidentified assailants.

He explained that, “The call, received on Thursday, was about an incident where the assailants assaulted a motorcycle operator, stabbing him at the back of his head with a dangerous weapon, and subsequently stole his motorcycle. The suspects were reportedly heading towards Jos Road.”

“In response, operatives of the command, led by Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Tambuwal, promptly responded to the distress call and arrested Abdulrashid

Abubakar, from Bakin Kura in Bauchi metropolis. The stolen motorcycle, a red Bajaj, was recovered as an exhibit.

“The suspect was interrogated and has confessed to participating in the crime alongside an accomplice identified as Adamu, who is now at large. Investigations are ongoing to locate and apprehend the fleeing suspect.”

Wakil also disclosed that the victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment and has since been treated and discharged.
