Following the murder of popular South African rapper, Kiernan Forbes, better known as AKA, six persons have been arrested by the police to answer questions surrounding the death of the rapper.

Recall that AKA was shot dead alongside his friend outside a restaurant in the coastal city of Durban in February 2023.

AKA and his best friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motshoane, were shot dead at close range by two armed men while walking to their car.

However, given an update in a press briefing on Tuesday night, the KwaZulu-Natal provincial police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, said the suspects would appear in court on Thursday.

In a viral clip on the internet, Mkhwanazi, a lieutenant-general, explained how the suspects were arrested and the roles they played in the rapper’s death.

“It was clear that AKA was monitored from the airport and Tibz was not the intended target in the murder on Florida Road in Durban.

“We know they were paid for this”, he said.
