Osun State Police Command on Saturday said its detectives have commenced an investigation to unravel the identities of some assailants who stabbed a 200-level student of Bowen University, Iwo, Paul Thinker, to death.
Speaking exclusively with Sunday PUNCH on the matter, the command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said the incident was reported to Iwo Divisional Headquarters on Wednesday at about 10: 55pm.
Opalola said the deceased, until his death, was a student in the department of Computer Science at the university.
She further said, “On 22/01/2025 at about 10:55pm, one Akindoyo Joseph CSO Bowen University, Iwo, came to Iwo Police Divisional Headquarters, Iwo and reported that one Paul Thinker, a 200 level Computer Science student was stabbed by unknown person or persons.”
According to her, after the matter was reported, detectives were immediately deployed to the scene of the crime.
“Police detectives were swiftly drafted to the scene. Items recovered are; cap, slippers, handset, earpod, and power bank. Body was deposited at university mortuary. Investigation into the incident is ongoing,” Opalola added.
Efforts to get the Public Relations Officer of the university, Havillah Sam Aliyu, for comment proved futile, as calls to his mobile line rang out, while text messages sent to him had not been responded to, as of the time of filing this report.
