Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has stated that the command would deploy its full strength to ensure a hitch-free and transparent local government poll slated for Saturday, October 5, 2024.
Speaking while fielding questions from newsmen during his maiden briefing in Uyo on Monday, Eribo said officers and men of the command would be posted to every nook and cranny of the state to deal with hoodlums who might use the election to foment trouble.
He said, “We are ready for the election on Saturday, October 5, 2024. We are working with our sister agencies, and I also want to seize this opportunity to thank them for their cooperation in crime fighting and prevention in the state.
“There is a synergy we have established, and we are going to sustain it. We cannot do it alone, just as we cannot do it without you, the press, and the general public. We will deploy our full strength, and all security agencies are going to work with us. With that synergy, we will ensure that the election is devoid of any violence.
“Our men will be posted to every nook and cranny of the state. We are going to have commissioner men, and for those who might want to foment trouble, we are ready for them. Officers and men of the command will be on standby to deal with any pockets of issues that may arise during the election.”
