The Jigawa State Police Command has taken a significant step towards enhancing the tactical skills of its officers.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Dutse, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Command, SP Shi’isu Adam, said that on February 25, the 35 PMF Dutse launched an intensive local training program for Divisional Crime Officers (DCOs), focusing on critical areas such as weapon handling, escort duties, stop and search, and crowd control.

According to Adam, the training program is designed to equip officers with the necessary skills to effectively manage crowd control and riot dispersal situations.

“The training is aimed at enhancing the tactical skills of our officers, particularly in the areas of weapon handling, escort duties, and crowd control,” Adam said.

He explained that the training program was kicked off with theoretical sessions, where officers were drilled on escort procedures and stop-and-search techniques, adding, “This was reinforced with hands-on practical demonstrations to deepen their understanding.”

He said that on the second day of the training, the focus of the training was shifted to riot dispersal and crowd control techniques.

“Officers engaged in modern tactical drills at the Police Mobile Force Base, demonstrating their enthusiasm, discipline, and commitment to mastering the skills needed for effective law enforcement operations,” he added.

SP Adam therefore mentioned that the training program is a follow-up to an ongoing eight-day lecture series for DCOs at the headquarters of the Command in Dutse, which was aimed at enhancing their operational efficiency.

He further stressed, “The Jigawa State Police Command is committed to providing its officers with the necessary training and resources to effectively discharge their duties.”

Adam emphasised that the training program is part of the command’s efforts to improve the overall performance of its officers.

“We are committed to providing our officers with the necessary skills and training to effectively manage crowd control and riot dispersal situations,” he said.

The Jigawa State Police Command has assured that the training program will be a continuous process, with a focus on enhancing the tactical skills of its officers.

The command has also called on the public to cooperate with its officers, particularly during crowd control and riot dispersal situations.
