Veteran American actor and the creator of Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive, David Keith Lynch, has passed away.
TheNewsGuru reports that the actor, who revealed in 2024 that he was diagnosed with emphysema after decades of smoking. (Emphysema is a chronic lung disease that damages the air sacs in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe) was aged 72.
According to Daily Post, the veteran filmmaker’s family announced his demise in a statement on Thursday.
The family also pleaded for privacy as they mourn the deceased.
The statement read, “It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch.
“We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us.”
Recall that Lynch had insisted in August that he would not let the disease lead to his retirement, when fans raised concerns on his health.
He wrote on X: “Ladies and gentlemen, yes, I have emphysema from my many years of smoking. I have now quit smoking for over two years. I am filled with happiness, and I will never retire.”
