Hyderabad: The Telangana government is preparing to launch several new schemes as a “Dasara bonanza” for farmers and other sections of society. These schemes include financial assistance for tenant farmers, increased pension amounts, incentives for government employees, and the introduction of the fine rice scheme.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has been working on finalizing these plans in time for Dasara, a major festival. One key initiative is the “Rythu Bharosa” scheme, which will increase financial support for farmers from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500 per acre. This program will specifically target poor and marginal farmers, unlike the previous government’s scheme, which was available to all farmers.
Under the new Rythu Bharosa scheme, only farmers with less than 10 acres of land will qualify for the benefits. Additionally, tenant farmers will receive Rs 12,000 per year. Since identifying tenant farmers is a complicated task, the government is considering asking farmers to provide a signed declaration to prove eligibility.
The government is also looking into increasing pensions for the elderly and single women. The Congress party had promised to double pension amounts in its election manifesto, and the new scheme will also include new pension recipients.

Government employees are waiting for several pending issues to be addressed, including the release of dearness allowance (DA) and the restoration of the old pension scheme. The government had previously approved festival bonuses for Singareni employees, and now other government workers are hoping to receive benefits before the festival. The Finance Department is currently assessing the cost of meeting these demands.
In addition to these measures, the Chief Minister is considering the launch of more schemes aimed at students. These include providing laptops and bicycles to college-going girls and scholarships for students pursuing professional courses, as promised in the party’s manifesto.
