Monday Night RAW made its Netflix debut on January 6 and one of the biggest matches of the night was Liv Morgan defending her Women’s World Title against Rhea Ripley. Morgan ended up dropping the title to The Eradicator and now the potential reason behind the title change has been revealed.
While speaking during a Q&A Session on Backstage Pass, WrestleVotes was asked about Liv Morgan dropping the Women’s World Championship. With WrestleMania 41 coming up, WWE needed to make room for four competitors in the women’s title matches.
WrestleVotes noted that Rhea Ripley was going to be one of them, and it appears that Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair will be the other two. Therefore, WWE didn’t have a spot for Liv Morgan and decided to take the title from her.
“I think it becomes a numbers thing as we get closer to WrestleMania. You know, two world title matches for the women’s equals probably four participants. They wanted Rhea, obviously, to be one of those. I think Becky and Charlotte are going to be two and three. And I just don’t believe they had a spot for Liv there. So they decided to take the title away from her.”
With Becky Lynch having re-signed with WWE, fans can expect to see her back as soon as possible and reignite her feud with Rhea Ripley. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see what WWE will have planned for Liv Morgan in the coming months, as fans feel she still deserves a proper program at WrestleMania 41.
