Our predicted Manchester United line-up for this evening’s fifth-round FA Cup tie away to Nottingham Forest.

The Red Devils return to The City Ground just two months on from their dismal 2-1 Premier League defeat last December, which saw Forest claim their first top-flight win over the 20-time champions since 1994.

Tonight provides Erik ten Hag and his men the opportunity to not only avenge the loss but progress in the only competition that could result in silverware this season. Exiting early would ensure another trophyless campaign at Old Trafford and only further heap pressure on the shoulders of the manager.

Regarding his team selections, Ten Hag revealed on Tuesday that Harry Maguire is ruled out of the clash while Raphael Varane and Bruno Fernandes are doubts to feature.

Of course, the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Rasmus Hojlund, Luke Shaw and numerous other key Reds remain sidelined.

Predicted starting XI

Onana;

Dalot, Kambwala, Evans, Lindelof

Casemiro (C), Mainoo

The Brazilian has been cleared to play following an early substitution over the weekend due to a head injury.

Antony, Eriksen, Garnacho

Most fans would likely prefer to see the likes of Amad Diallo granted some well-deserved minutes over Antony but given Ten Hag’s recent declaration of faith in his former Ajax man, nobody would be surprised to see the winger return to the line-up.

Fernandes has never missed a game for United through injury so his omission from the teamsheet would mark a first for the club captain.
