Al-Ahli have asked Ivan Toney for a final answer by Monday on whether he wants to join the Saudi side according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Toney, who was left out of the Brentford squad for last weekend’s victory against Crystal Palace only has a year remaining on his current deal with the Bees said to value him at around £50m.

Surprisingly it appears Toney doesn’t have many options available to him unless any potential suitors are planning to enter the race very late on.

Al-Ahli want Toney answer by Monday

Toney, who arrived at Brentford in 2020 following his move from Peterborough has been a key player for the club and has become an England international during his time in West London.

Currently one side is pushing strongly for his services and that’s Al-Ahli of the Saudi Pro League, who are believed to have had a bid worth £35m rejected.

It would be a surprise given Toney’s quality if he ended up making the switch to Saudi Arabia, but he’s yet to give the club a final answer and now Jacobs has provided an update on the situation.

Jacobs has said the 28-year-old has been offered a three year contract with terms broadly in place and Al-Ahli want a final answer from Toney by Monday.

Toney was heavily linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea back in January with Brentford’s valuation thought to be around £100m at that stage.

Following his return from his eight month ban Toney struggled and managed four goals in 17 appearances.

Having been part of the England squad for Euro 2024 if Toney were to make the move to Saudi he would possibly rule himself out of contention for the World Cup in 2026.

Toney has made 141 appearances for Brentford, scoring 72 goals and providing 23 assists but it’s almost certain he’s played his final game for the club.
