West Ham beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday, thanks to second-half goals from Soucek and Bowen (2-0). But while the Hammers opened the scoring in the 67th minute, tragedy was about to unfold when the goal was scored. After scoring the first goal, Czech international Soucek rushed to join the West Ham fans celebrating his goal. In a crowd movement, an advertising board fell on the young ball boy, who was sitting right in front of it.

The West Ham midfielder, and several team-mates, acted quickly to save the Crystal Palace ball boy, who was clearly in shock and tears at the time of his injury and under a wave of London supporters. “The main thing is that the child is well”reacted Jarrod Bowen after the incident, at the microphone of his team. More fear than harm for the young man, who was able to be evacuated without danger, although in a state of shock.
