Monument in danger, Manchester United wanted to confirm their painful victory gleaned Thursday against Southampton and move closer to the first part of the table. Thirteenth, the Red Devils hosted Brighton (10th) for the 22nd day of the Premier League. An interesting duel which started at a great pace. Quickly, Joao Pedro distinguished himself with a sublime strike from outside the area which was repelled by André Onana (2nd). Just behind, the Seagulls would take the advantage. On an opening behind the defense, Kaoru Mitoma controlled, entered the area and slipped in front of the goal for Yankuba Minteh who found the fault (1-0, 5th). A hell of a blow to the head for Manchester United who were going to react. After a timid strike from Bruno Fernandes (17th), Joshua Zirkzee went for goal, but Carlos Baleba caught him in his area. Bruno Fernandes was responsible for hitting the penalty (1-1, 23rd) and tied the two teams. A goal that totally sounded like Brighton was going to slow down for the end of the first act.

Returning from the locker room, Brighton were going to restart the machine. After a long free kick kicked towards the surface, a mix-up benefited Joao Pedro who was going to play Joshua Zirkzee before giving the advantage back to his team (53rd). Finally the goal was disallowed for a foul by Jan Paul van Hecke on Diogo Dalot. It was only a postponement. Just behind, Yankuba Minteh was going to curl a sublime cross to the right of the area towards the far post. Kaoru Mitoma dived to conclude (2-1, 60th). Worse, Manchester United was going to collapse. After a cross from Yasin Ayari on the right side, André Onana missed his intervention. Georginio Rutter recovered the ball and easily scored in the empty goal (3-1, 77th). With this 3-1 victory, Brighton moved up to ninth place when Manchester United fell back into trouble.

Everton pushes Tottenham into crisis, Forest solid in third

Disappointment at the start of the season, Tottenham (15th) had four defeats and one draw in their last five Premier League matches. A negative dynamic for the Spurs who moved onto the Everton pitch (16th). A bottom-of-the-table match that would quickly turn into a nightmare for Ange Postecoglou's gang. Very quickly, Dominic Calvert-Lewin would suck the soul out of Archie Gray with a sublime hook before adjusting Antonin Kinsky (1-0, 13th). Just behind, it was the former Marseillais Iliman Ndiaye who distinguished himself by mystifying Radu Dragusin before adjusting the Czech goalkeeper (2-0, 30th). Finally, just before the break, a long cross from the right and from Jesper Lindström was caught at the far post by the head of James Tarkowski. The sphere came back to poor Archie Gray who scored against his side (3-0, 45th +8). Amorphous, Tottenham were in doubt during this second half even if Dejan Kulusevski reduced the gap at the end of the match (3-1, 77th). This revitalized the London club and Richarlison also scored his goal (3-2, 90th +2). With this 3-1 defeat, the Spurs remain 15th with six points ahead of the red zone. Everton gives themselves some breathing space and comes back to within four points of their opponent of the day.

Third in the Premier League, Nottingham Forest faced bottom side Southampton. Confident on their City Ground pitch, the Reds would quickly get their hands on the match. With a sublime strike in front of the surface, midfielder Elliott Anderson was responsible for starting the proceedings (1-0, 11th). A few minutes later, Callum Hudson-Odoi would drive home the point with a full-axis shot in front of the surface after a high recovery at the feet of Jan Bednarek (2-0, 28th). The club's top scorer, Chris Wood, even increased the sentence before the break. Benefiting from a cross from Ola Aina, the New Zealand striker already scored his fourteenth goal of the season in the Premier League (3-0, 41st). After the break, Southampton would reduce the gap thanks to Jan Bednarek well served by Lesley Ugochukwu (3-1, 61st). But more was needed to make Southampton doubt and Nikola Milenkovic gave Nuno Espirito Santo's team a lead before his goal was refused (65th). At the end of the match, Forest will scare themselves with a new pawn from Paul Onuachu (3-2, 90th +1). Finally obtaining a narrow 3-2 victory, Nottingham Forest came back level with Arsenal and six points behind leader Liverpool. Southampton remains last, ten points behind the non-relegation lead.
