Sergi Roberto is one of the Barcelona stars facing an uncertain future at the club heading into the summer. The veteran midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the season, with Barcelona yet to inform him of their plans going forward.

As a result, Roberto is unsure about his future and is openly considering other possibilities.

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered a detailed report on Sergi Roberto and three potential scenarios regarding the veteran.

Renewal not ruled out

The report reiterates the fact that Barcelona have yet to inform Sergi Roberto of their plans with the midfielder.

Given the player’s experience and leadership, a renewal with the club has not been completely ruled out, even though recent reports suggested otherwise.

Certain factors do, in fact, favor Roberto, including the fact that the player can always renew for a lower salary and can step up whenever needed.

A move to MLS

A slew of former Barcelona players have joined MLS in the past decade, with Lionel Messi being the prime example.

Other than Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba have also joined Inter Miami. There is no reason why Sergi Roberto can’t follow suit.

Roberto, for his part, is open to the idea of moving to the United States. His agents, in fact, have been ideating on the possibility for quite some time now.

Premier League also remains an option

Another option for Sergi Roberto could be the Premier League. It appears several English clubs are open to the idea of signing the Barcelona star due to his experience.

Roberto himself is keen on playing in England. He was notably linked with moves to Arsenal and Manchester City in the past.

Should Barcelona opt to not renew his contract, a move to England cannot be ruled out for the club captain this summer.
