Presidency gagging relevant institutions from probing aircraft case suggests cover-up – Ntim Forjour claims


 

Ranking Member of Parliament's Defence and Interior Committee, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has accused the Presidency of deliberately preventing security agencies from investigating and communicating the truth about the controversial aircraft saga.

Rev. Fordjour alleged that the Presidency is gagging relevant state institutions, preventing them from carrying out independent investigations and sharing credible information with the public.

He suggested this interference points to a possible cover-up as they may be hiding something.

"The Presidency gagging the security agencies from doing their work, investigating and communicating the outcome to the public, and hijacking communication on this specific security matter goes to suggest there’s something they are hiding," he said in an interview on JoyNews' Newsfile on Saturday, April 5.

His comments come after the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications dismissed claims he made regarding alleged drug trafficking and money laundering involving two aircraft that passed through Ghana.

In an explainer posted on social media, Felix Kwakye Ofosu described Mr Fordjour’s allegations as baseless, accusing him of engaging in deliberate disinformation to undermine public confidence in the government.

According to him, the facts on the matter completely contradict Mr Fordjour’s claims.

However, Mr Fordjour questioned the accuracy of information put out by government communicators regarding the origin and purpose of the aircraft, stating that some of the details provided were false.

He maintained that the government's handling of the issue raises more questions than answers, reinforcing the need for full disclosure and transparency.
