Lucy Hale was recently honored with the humanitarian award at Friendly House’s annual luncheon, but what made it even more special is that a friend of fifteen years got to present it to her. The 35-year-old actress was presented with the award by her Pretty Little Liars co-star Sasha Pieterse at the event, held on Saturday (September 14) in Los Angeles Lucy is known for her work on Katy Keene, Truth or Dare, and, most notably, the hit series Pretty Little Liars. Lucy portrayed Aria Montgomery for seven seasons and after working with the same cast for so long, you either get tired of each other or form lifelong bonds. It seems Lucy and fellow Pretty Little Liars actress, Sasha Pieterse, took to forming a bond. In recent Instagram stories, the actresses said they’ve been friends for, “fifteen years and counting.” Considering how open Lucy has been about her struggles with addiction, it’s no surprise that Friendly House wanted to honor her and her sobriety. On their website, Friendly House is described as, “the first residential program for women recovering from substance and alcohol abuse.” Lucy is now two and a half years sober and is rightfully proud of how far she’s come. The cherry on top of receiving Friendly House’s humanitarian award was that her friend that she’s known for over fifteen years, Sasha, got to present the award to her. In a recent Instagram post, Lucy even gave Sasha a shoutout for not just attending the luncheon, but also saying, “You are an angel. What can I say? You’ve always shown up for me. Especially yesterday. I’ll never forget your words 🥹.” Lucy also made sure to send a message to those out there who may be going through something similar to her past, “If you are struggling, please know you are not alone. It’s never too late to start choosing yourself. Please know that help is out there and asking for that help could be the decision that changes your life 🤍.” Also pictured inside: Tallulah Willis, who posed with Lucy on the red carpet.
