Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has told President Bola Tinubu to refrain from imposing additional taxes on Nigerians and instead focus on addressing the prevalent hunger in the nation.

Expressing concern, Primate Ayodele stated that raising Value Added Tax (VAT), stamp duty, and implementing a cybersecurity levy amidst Nigeria’s ongoing economic challenges is unjustifiable. He emphasized that these measures would exacerbate the plight of ordinary citizens already grappling with economic hardship.

In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele stressed the need for the government to revisit its policies and ensure they are conducive to the well-being of the populace. He asserted, “Nigeria may not understand all of these and the government in power may not even understand too but the fact remains that the government must review their policies very well.”

Warning against the repercussions, he cautioned that such policies would lead to increased hardship, soaring food prices, and exacerbate the challenges faced by Nigerians.

Primate Ayodele also called upon the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to scrutinize policies that could potentially jeopardize the future of the government and impact Nigerian banks adversely. He emphasized that the current policies are overly harsh and will adversely affect everyone in the country.

He urged for a focus on the immediate needs of Nigerians, emphasizing the importance of survival and sustenance. He warned that the persistence of these policies would not only impact small-scale industries but also affect every stratum of society, including affluent individuals.

He further said, “A lot of people surrounding the president are deceiving him,”
