Private Party explains their decision to turn down Stokely Hathaway ahead of AEW WrestleDream.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Private Party recently sat down with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. When asked about their decision to turn down the managerial services of Stokely Hathaway, Isiah Kassidy said they want to do things on their own, plus he already knows what working with Stokely is like.
“I mean, we did… We worked well… Quen was out but I worked with Stokely already. And we’ve been there we’ve done that,” Isiah Kassidy said. “I’m not opposed to working with somebody else if they’re going to help us and reach us… Get us to new heights and going to like, teach us.
“And because I feel like doesn’t matter how skilled you are, doesn’t matter how much experience you have, you always on the job, you always learning. So, if somebody can provide that to us, I’m not opposed to it.”
“Yeah. I totally agree,” Marq Quen chimed in. “I was out with the whole thing with Stokely when they did the Firm. But if anyone knows what Stokely is capable of, Zay pretty much knows.”
Potentially working with Amazing Red in AEW
When asked if someone like Amazing Red is an idea they’d be more interested in, Kassidy said he wouldn’t want him to be their manager but more of a teammate instead.
“Yeah. I wouldn’t want him to be a manager. I’d definitely want him to be our teammate because that’s my guy and I love him,” Isiah Kassidy said. “And we owe a lot of our success to him because he basically told us from legit the beginning. And I still talk to him to this day. I still ask him for advice, I still picking his brain. So, to have him side by side with us, I think that would be pretty amazing. No pun intended.
“The cool thing about that is, everybody admits it. Everybody from Will Ospreay, Ricochet, all the greats. They all admit that Amazing Red is a true pioneer of what we do today. So, that’s pretty cool that people acknowledge that and it’s pretty cool that we actually… we are his trainees. So, that’s definitely something to appreciate. Which we really do.”
Amazing Red ultimately appeared on the WrestleDream broadcast, hyping up Private Party’s tag team title match with the Young Bucks in a pre-taped video. Catch up on everything that went down at AEW WrestleDream here.
