‘Privileged’ Whitney Port gets real about ‘financial stress’ of IVF and surrogacy, shares staggering cost

Whitney Port revealed the shocking cost of her IVF and surrogacy journey.

Whitney Port’s growing family comes at a hefty price.

The “Hills” alum spoke candidly about the “financial stress” of her journey to baby No. 2 as she undergoes in vitro fertilization and pursues surrogacy.

“This whole thing is probably gonna end up costing us, I feel like, $200,000,” she estimated in Tuesday’s episode of her “With Whit” podcast.

“Can you even believe [$15,000 is] just the charge just to find a new surrogate, let alone the surrogacy fees?” Port asked listeners.

The former reality star, 39, acknowledged that she and her husband, Tim Rosenman, who already share 7-year-old son Sunny, are “very privileged” to have enough savings to cover the cost.

However, she noted, “It is still our money being spent on something … that happens to so many people so easily for free.”

Port called the price tag “heartbreaking” while clarifying that she and Rosenman, 42, “truly, truly want” another child and consider the process “worth the money.”

The couple became parents in July 2017, two years after they tied the knot in a Palm Springs, Calif., ceremony.

While trying to conceive a sibling for Sunny, Port suffered multiple miscarriages.

“I’m sad but I’m ok and we will try again,” the “City” alum wrote via Instagram in January 2021. “I also have so much sadness in my heart for anyone that has to go through this or has gone through this.”

Port and Rosenman subsequently turned to gestational carriers, but their surrogate experienced two more pregnancy losses.

The duo are now working with a doctor in New York instead of Los Angeles and hoping for “healthier embryos” this time around.

“She’ll be monitoring my medication differently and dosing everything differently,” Port explained.

The “scared” former MTV personality has been documenting the process for her Instagram followers, confessing Tuesday that she felt “awful” ahead of her egg retrieval due to both physical and “emotional discomfort.”

She wrote, “My stomach feels up in my throat and I’m on the verge of tears/actual tears all day. … I’ll be ready to return to gratitude soon, but I am just not there yet with so much up in the air.”
