Manchester United are facing the prospect of losing promising youngster Isak Hansen-Aaroen who is disappointed with his lack of first-team opportunities at Old Trafford.

The Norwegian teenager joined United from Tromso in 2020 and has now entered the final six months of his contract at the club.

United have offered him a new four-and-a-half year deal but according to the Manchester Evening News, the package ‘does not come close’ to those being offered elsewhere with Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Ajax among the sides interested in signing hm

Hansen-Aaroen would ideally like to stay in Manchester but has grown frustrated with his lack of chances under Erik ten Hag.

The attacking midfielder was not included in the squad that took on Wigan Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup on Monday, despite a spate of injury and illness absences with two goalkeepers named on the bench.

Willy Kambwala and Omari Forson were given chances off the bench against the Latics with Shola Shoretire, Joe Hugill and Rhys Bennett unused substitutes.

Hansen-Aaroen, who trained with the first-team last week, featured in the senior side during pre-season, catching the manager’s eye with his performance against Leeds in Oslo.

‘He did well,’ ten Hag said last July. ‘He had a good pass on the first goal.

‘You can see that he is very comfortable with the ball. He has good vision and good scanning.

‘He is of course a young player. He has some small things to work on. But we want to tell him that, show him and then work with him to get the right movements in.’

The 19-year-old is believed to have been promised first-team chances during that pre-season campaign and would now require further assurances over his future should he commit to a new deal in Manchester.

United remain eager for him to sign a new deal and would be reluctant to sell him this month should the impasse continue.

Should they decide to cash in, United will reportedly insist on a hefty sell-on fee and a low buyback clause.
