Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila

Hours after protests erupted in some states across the nation, the President’s Chief of Staff, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, alongside some ministers are currently in closed-door talks at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting which began at about 05:30 pm also has in attendance the Ministers of Education, Dr Tahir Mamman; Finance, Wale Edun; Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari and State for Agriculture, Mustapha Shehuri.

Tuesday’s gathering comes after angry youths and women took to the streets of Minna and Kano to protest what they described as the rising cost of living in the country.

In Niger, a group of women reportedly blocked the ever-busy Minna-Bida Road at the popular Kpakungu Roundabout and called on the administration of President Bola Tinubu to address the problem of ‘hunger in the land.’

Attempts by security operatives to quell the protest by firing tear gas cannisters into the crowd and making some arrests were rebuffed by the mob.
