Milan Skriniar is in big trouble. Arriving at Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 after several years of good and loyal service at Inter, the 29-year-old defender thought he would settle down for a few years in the central axis alongside Marquinhos. A little over a year later, the Slovak became disillusioned. In addition to irregular performances, his first season in the French capital was marked by physical problems. All this pushed the Ile-de-France management to bet on Willian Pacho this summer, while inviting Skriniar to find a new base. But the latter ultimately remained with the residents of the Parc des Princes, where he is now behind Marquinhos, Pacho and Lucas Beraldo.
Appearing twice during this 2024-25 financial year, including once as a starter, Skriniar is inevitably affected. Currently in the national team, he took advantage of the microphones held yesterday at a press conference to empty his bag. “ Mentally, we will say that I am fine. I’m not happy with this situation, but the only thing I can control is my work in training. I have to be ready when needed. I try to be in the best possible shape (…) No, the coach does not discuss this kind of thing. I would be happy if I had more opportunities. I respect his decisions, he is the one who decides the composition of the team. I can’t influence him. » Then, he returned to the 2024 summer transfer window.
Juve is already there for Skriniar
“ There were many options. They informed me that I will not be used as much as last season. It was at the end of the transfer window, so it was mainly for loans. But I was not in the final phase of negotiations with clubs. Finally, in a meeting with the club management and the coach, we agreed that it was better for me to stay and fight for my chance (…) I am happy to be in Paris, but I regret not having more minutes, he conceded. I see in training that I can compete with my teammates in terms of quality. We have a great group and I encourage them. I had my chance, I took it, as the coach said (…) I have been in this situation before and I have always come out of it successfully. I think this will still be the case today. »
For the moment, it seems complicated for him to return to the forefront in Paris, where Luis Enrique prefers other players in his position. It could possibly relaunch elsewhere. In Italy, a country where he proved himself with the Nerazzurri, he has not been forgotten. This Thursday, La Gazzetta dello Sport reveals that Juventus, who lost Bremer for a few months due to injury, are looking at PSG and Skriniar. An experienced element who has the advantage of knowing Serie A perfectly. The pink paper publication adds that the Old Lady is considering very seriously a loan from the Parisian with the payment of half of his salary (he receives 10 million € per year, plus bonuses). The Turin sports director, Cristiano Giuntoli, is already busy behind the scenes. Although he has other names on his list, Milan Skriniar is right at the top. It remains to be seen whether the player will decide to leave Paris this time…
