Football clubs have understood this well. Beyond their sports policy, marketing has become a major issue for the development of their brand. In Paris, the transformation of PSG into a global brand since the arrival of the Qataris from QSI is the perfect example. Brand Finance has just published a report on the most valuable club brands. And unsurprisingly, the big ones are in front.

Second last year, Real Madrid dethroned Manchester City. The Casa Blanca saw the value of its brand climb to almost €300 million. Today, it has been estimated at €1.651 billion. Falling back one place with €1.578 billion, the Cityzens still managed a better result than last year (€1.428 billion). FC Barcelona completes this podium.

3 French clubs in the top 50

Still mired in a financial crisis, the Catalan club can count on the exceptional impact of its brand (1.512 billion euros). Like nine of the ten teams in the top 10, the Blaugranas also achieved a better score than in 2023. Manchester United (4th, 1.370 billion euros), Liverpool (5th, 1.351 billion euros) and Bayern Munich (6th, 1.211 billion euros) follow. On the French side, we have three representatives in the top 50.

The first French club mentioned is unsurprisingly Paris Saint-Germain. The capital team has lost one place and finds itself seventh despite a slight increase of 7% for the value of its brand (1.183 billion euros against 1.074 billion euros in 2023). A decline that could be accentuated, Paris no longer having world superstars (Mbappé, Neymar, Messi) in its ranks. Finally, two other French clubs appear: the two Olympiques, whose brand values were not communicated in the non-paying version. OL moves from 31st to 24th place, just behind AS Roma, but ahead of Everton and Ajax Amsterdam. For its part, OM remains 28th, sandwiched between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Brighton.
