As has already been established, FC Barcelona hold a strong interest in LOSC Lille forward Jonathan David, who will be a free agent at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old Canadian international has established himself as a top player in Ligue 1 over the past few seasons and is ready to take the next big step in his career.
Talks over a new deal at Lille have not progressed a great deal and everything suggests that the versatile forward could be on the move come summer.
PSG also interested, but David wants Barcelona
Now, Mundo Deportivo reports that apart from Barcelona, Ligue 1 champions PSG are also interested in signing Jonathan David as a free agent next year.
The Parisian giants are always on the lookout for the best talents in Ligue 1 and are keen on adding the Lille forward to their ranks.
However, as per the report, despite the interest from PSG and some other elite European clubs as well, David dreams of joining Barcelona.
Indeed, the Canadian international harbours ambitions of wearing the Blaugrana shirt and as such would be prepared to wait for the Catalan heavyweights to come calling.
Barcelona will need to sign a new striker sooner rather than later as Robert Lewandowski, despite his brilliant recent form, is entering the final phase of his illustrious career.
David, given his proven pedigree and soon-to-be free-agent status, would be a viable target for Hansi Flick’s side. And his willingness to join the club and wait for them certainly bodes well for the La Liga leaders.
