Nico Williams is dominating the headlines in Spain as speculations over his future continue to do the rounds with Barcelona and PSG vying for his signing.

The Athletic Club speedster enjoyed a special 2023/24 season for club and country, which has led to him becoming a man in extremely high demand.

Nico, who has 20 career goals for Athletic Club in over 120 senior appearances, has a release clause worth €58 million in his contract which Barça are prepared to activate.

But reports today suggested that PSG would be willing to pay more than that figure to sign the winger, apart from offering him double the salary that Barça are proposing.

Despite that, it has been suggested that Barcelona remain ahead of the Ligue 1 champions in the race for Williams.

PSG unwilling to throw in the towel

Now, though, MARCA reports that PSG are not going to give up their pursuit of Nico Williams that easily.

In fact, the Spanish publication claims that Luis Enrique’s side are confident about reaching an agreement with the 22-year-old La Liga speedster.

That is because PSG believe that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is prioritising a deal for RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo over Nico and that the Catalans are not in a position to afford both signings.

The Parisians’ manager, Enrique, knows Nico well and wants to add him to the squad at Parc des Princes.

However, unlike what has been suggested, PSG are not prepared to pay exorbitant amounts or a very high salary to sign the UEFA Euro 2024 winner.

It is now completely up to Nico to choose between Barcelona or PSG or staying put at Athletic Club itself this summer.

The Blaugrana are optimistic about their chances and are expecting a response by the middle of the next week. However, PSG will not go down without a fight.
