Barcelona will enter the 2024 summer transfer window with a huge dilemma hanging over their head.

Still in a financial mishmash, the Catalans could be forced to sell some of their best assets, but they also want to sign new players to paper over the cracks in their squad so they can compete in all competitions.

The lack of a natural holding midfielder or a quality left-winger this season, for example, has caused severe problems for them. However, to find players to replace in either of these positions, they will need to offload some players.

This could include prized assets such as Jules Kounde and/or Andreas Christensen, both of whom have done exceedingly well since their signing, albeit with some inconsistency this season.

Frenkie de Jong was also among the names being discussed in the transfer market for a bit, but it seems that Barcelona have communicated to the player he will not be sold.

He joins the list of ‘untouchable’ players in this Barça that include Pedri, Ronald Araujo, Lamine Yamal, and a certain Gavi, who is currently out with an ACL tear.

Not only is Gavi one of the fan-favourite players, but he is also a manager’s dream, and in Xavi’s words, “one of future club captains”.

However, PSG seemingly do not care about that as MARCA report that they still have the 19-year-old midfielder on their radar, and could be looking to make a move for him in the summer.

The French side had Gavi on their radar last summer as well while Barcelona were trying to sort out his registration. Their idea was to pursue the player had Kylian Mbappe decided to move away, but eventually it was not to be.

PSG have not forgotten about him, though, and consider him an ideal signing to reinforce their midfield.

As far as Gavi is concerned, though, he is armed with a €1 billion release clause, and is not thinking about leaving Barcelona anytime soon.

His, and the club’s priority is to nurse his ACL injury ahead of the 2024/25 season so he can make a full recovery and lead the team’s midfield.
