It was anticipated, it’s now official. Paris Saint-Germain has just announced the arrival of its first summer recruit. Her name ? Matvey Safonov (25 years old). Holder of the Russian selection (13 caps), the native of Stavropol played until then for Krasnodar but finally decided to give new impetus to his career by joining the club in the French capital for the next five seasons. In the City of Lights, the last Russian rampart will thus provide competition to Gianluigi Donnarumma, the indisputable holder during the 2023-2024 financial year.
“I am very happy to join Paris Saint-Germain, one of the greatest clubs in terms of its history and its record. I’m already looking forward to meeting my new teammates, defending my new colors and making the supporters proud. Go Paris”, declared the main interested party. Concerning the details of the operation, some clarifications can however be made. Thus, if an amount of around twenty million euros was recently relayed, we are able to affirm that the cost of the transfer is much lower, well below the €18 million announced. In addition, Safonov will receive a salary in the French capital “not high”particularly in view of what Keylor Navas could receive (around €7M net annually).
