Eintracht Frankfurt has some ideas. And his ideas often lead him to Ligue 1. After Kolo Muani in 2022, it is Hugo Ekitike that he has been eyeing for almost 6 months. The deal collapsed last summer, during intense negotiations with PSG, who wanted to include the former Rémois to lower the price of Kolo Muani. But the 21-year-old then refused, convinced that he could still establish himself at PSG and not keen on the idea of seeing his emoluments drop. Above all, even if it meant leaving against his will, he wanted to at least choose his destination.

More than four months later, Eintracht returned to the charge, after trying their luck against Stade Rennais and Arnaud Kalimuendo. The Breton club closed the door, demanding sums considered far-fetched by the German management. The latter is now focusing all its efforts on Ekitike, much more open to this destination than last summer. Already because there is room to establish itself quite quickly. Randal Kolo Muani was not really replaced, due to his departure at the very end of the transfer window, and the squad’s top scorer, Omar Marmoush (7 goals in the Bundesliga), apart from the fact that he is not a pure number 9, is at the CAN with Egypt.

A major offer for Ekitike

Then because Frankfurt is a place where attackers flourish and see their careers take off. Kolo Muani, Jovic, Haller, Rebic and André Silva all had full seasons at Eintracht, who sold them very well in the process. Without them necessarily confirming behind it. The salary problem for Ekitike seems to be on the verge of being resolved. The German club will not go beyond €3 million per season, and the striker is ready to make concessions in this area.

All that remains is to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, who since last summer have favored a transfer rather than a loan. This is good, Frankfurt is ready to invest. According to Bild, the German club is ready to exceed €20 million to afford the former Rémois. Below the price paid by PSG a year and a half ago to snatch him from Reims, but not so bad for a player who hasn’t set foot on a pitch since last August. If Eintracht achieves its goals, Ekitike will not arrive on conquered ground. The local supporters have not forgotten last summer’s refusal, and are waiting to judge on the evidence.
