€170 million on the sidelines. This is the cumulative purchase price of Randal Kolo Muani and Gonçalo Ramos, the big losers of the advent of the Barcola-Mbappé-Dembélé trio to lead the Paris Saint-Germain attack. For a long time, Luis Enrique searched for the right formula, multiplied the playing patterns and juggled between the starts of each side. Before finally refocusing Kylian Mbappé, disappointed in particular by the level of his two offensive recruits.

With 26 appearances (for 9 goals and 3 assists) for Randal Kolo Muani and 25 appearances (for 7 goals and 1 assist) for Gonçalo Ramos, both men had the opportunity to show themselves. Perhaps a little more for Kolo Muani, who started all 6 matches in the group stage of the Champions League. Today, they are condemned to the role of understudy, even if Kolo Muani can play on the wings and therefore be an alternative to Barcola and Dembélé. For Ramos, the matter is even more complicated, because he is a pure number 9. And Mbappé is rarely replaced when he starts the match…

PSG wants to keep them but…

So, will PSG acknowledge the failure of this double recruitment? Not at all according to The Parisian, which ensures that the Ile-de-France club does not intend to part with its two players next summer, during the transfer window. They will therefore not be placed on the market. And this even though a new major number 9 is recruited to replace Kylian Mbappé. The name of Victor Osimhen has come up a lot in recent weeks, but the Nigerian is mainly targeting the Premier League.

Between now and the end of the season, Ramos and Kolo Muani will have to seize every opportunity to show themselves, in order to position themselves for next season as the best alternative to Mbappé. Unless they decide to cut the Parisian adventure short. This does not seem to be Kolo Muani’s will. On the other hand, Gonçalo Ramos could be tempted to look elsewhere, after a complicated first few months in Paris and without the prospect of sufficient playing time. If the player requests it, PSG will then open the door, but this is not the solution desired by the club.
