Paris Saint-Germain had made Khvicha Kvaratskhelia one of its priorities to strengthen its offensive sector. But the negotiations with Naples promise to be much more complex than expected. The Parisian club, although very active on this issue, is now faced with strong competition, calling into question its ability to complete this transfer.
For several weeks, the club from the French capital has started direct discussions with Naples to attract the Georgian player, with a contract proposal considered very attractive. However, PSG’s initial offer, estimated at 45 million euros, remains far from the demands of the Italian club, which is demanding nearly 80 million euros to release its jewel. This significant difference considerably complicates Paris’ task.
Liverpool, a serious rival
What makes the situation even more delicate for PSG is the entry of Liverpool on the scene. According to several sources, the Reds have positioned themselves on this issue and have a major asset: Naples have identified Federico Chiesa, currently a Liverpool player, as the ideal replacement for Kvaratskhelia. By proposing a deal including Chiesa and a larger sum than that put forward by Paris, Liverpool could offer a much more convincing package to the Neapolitan leaders.
Kvaratskhelia towards the PL rather than PSG?
Fabrizio Romano, journalist specializing in transfers, confirms that nothing is yet decided for PSG. Although they are in advanced discussions with Naples, other clubs, particularly in the Premier League, are closely monitoring the situation and could upset the outcome of the negotiations.
Kvaratskhelia, a trail that goes away?
While Paris initially seemed in a strong position thanks to its financial means, this situation shows that other parameters, such as relations with the selling club or replacement options, can change everything. Liverpool, by skillfully playing their cards, now seem to have taken a head start in this battle for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
For PSG, which is aiming for major reinforcements for its European project, this potential failure would be a hard blow. Paris will have to quickly adjust its offer if it wants to avoid seeing one of its major objectives slip towards the Premier League.
The competition on this issue once again reflects how ruthless the transfer market can be, even for a giant like PSG.
