The future of Frenkie de Jong will be in focus as we move closer to the summer transfer window.
Despite the Dutchman’s excellent performances in midfield, he remains a strong candidate to become the Barça’s sacrificial lamb, as the club desperately look for fresh sources of revenue.
Manchester United are likely to come back into the market for de Jong this summer, with the Premier League giants even willing to offer up to four players in return.
PSG interested in de Jong
But Manchester United won’t be the only player this summer. It appears Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the services of Frenkie de Jong, reports SPORT.
With Kylian Mbappe leaving the club in the coming summer, PSG are likely to free up a chunk of their salary budget, which, in turn, should allow them to spend big.
A focus area for PSG will be the midfield department, as coach Luis Enrique looks to add more support for Vitinha and Warren Zaire-Emery.
The addition of a star like Frenkie de Jong can be beneficial for PSG. The Dutchman will bring a wealth of experience at the highest level while he has the technical quality to thrive in Enrique’s system.
At 26, de Jong is also at the peak of his game and could easily become a captainship candidate in a few years.
PSG willing to pay €60 million
On the valuation front, PSG are reportedly willing to offer up to €60 million for the services of Frenkie de Jong.
Barcelona are unlikely to entertain such a low offer and could be looking for a fee in the range of €100 million, in their bid to maximise the sale of de Jong.
The Dutchman, after all, is a top-class midfielder, who brings quality and experience to the table. Barça, therefore, will look to squeeze the best possible value from the midfielder, if they do end up offloading the player in the coming summer.
