This time, it’s the right one for Real Madrid. Free from any contract after seven years spent at Paris Saint-Germain, Kylian Mbappé is leaving France and Ligue 1, his now former stomping ground where he played with Monaco and the capital club (191 goals, 74 assists in 246 matches with Paris and ASM). At 25, the man who wore number 7 for the Rouge et Bleu ended up deciding in favor of Casa Blanca.

“Real Madrid CF and Kylian Mbappé have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons.”, we can read in the press release published by the Merengue club, recent winner of the 15th Champions League in its history. The long-awaited arrival of the top scorer in the history of PSG (256 goals in 307 matches, all competitions) in Madrid marks the end of a very long series during which Casa Blanca was mistreated like never before.

The end of a very long soap opera

In 2021, Florentino Pérez tried to recruit the French world champion by offering more than €100 million one year before the end of the player’s contract. In vain, categorical refusal from a PSG ready to take the risk of seeing its best player leave for free a year later. This had seriously damaged relations between the two clubs. For his part, Mbappé also had difficulty absorbing the blow. In 2022, all of Madrid thought they would finally be able to welcome an Mbappé freed from his Qatari channels.

This was to misunderstand the persuasive power of QSI’s fortune. To everyone’s surprise, the Bondynois extended his lease on May 21, 2022 after suggesting that he was going to join the Madrid giant, thus delivering a huge uppercut to the Merengues. Faced with such an affront, the Madrid train will no longer pass, it was said in the Spanish capital. Two years later, the train entered the station, on time, to joyfully welcome a quickly forgiven Mbappé. A year after announcing to PSG that he was not going to extend his contract, while agreeing to waive juicy bonuses (we are talking about an amount of more than €100 million) to spare the Ile-de-France club from a financial fiasco, Kylian Mbappé will therefore be able to make his dream come true.
