A new page is about to be written at Paris Saint-Germain. Champion of France for the 12th time in its history, winner of the Champions Trophy and the Coupe de France, the capital club, eliminated at the gates of the Champions League final which will pit Real Madrid against Borussia this Saturday evening Dortmund is now preparing to live without Kylian Mbappé, top scorer for the Rouge et Bleu. At the end of his contract in the City of Lights, the Parisian number 7 has in fact recorded his departure and should be officially presented to the Merengues at the start of next week. Orphaned by its star, the team chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaifi should therefore experience a turbulent summer with a common ambition: to shape the best possible team for the 2024-2025 season. Announced as one of the main protagonists of the summer transfer window, whether in terms of departures or arrivals, the Ile-de-France club has, in the meantime, made a big decision.

Indeed, according to the latest information from The Team, PSG could quickly reinforce Luis Campos in his role as sports advisor. Far from the bling-bling seen in recent years and now determined to establish a stable and coherent long-term project, the Parisian upper echelons would like to offer certain continuity to the existing organization chart. With this in mind, Luis Enrique, linked to the Rouge et Bleu until June 2025 and with a very good first season on the Parisian bench, should soon extend his stay in the French capital. But that’s not all. According to the latest indiscretions from the French daily, Luis Campos, at the end of his contract in a year, could also extend his adventure at PSG.

Extension to come…

In close contact with the former coach of La Roja, particularly on issues related to the transfer window, the Portuguese therefore sees his future becoming clearer. Close to the Parisian coach, a complicity widely appreciated by the PSG staff, the former leader of AS Monaco had notably been linked to Real Madrid because of his good relations with Kylian Mbappé. Yes but now, according to recent information published in the French press, the native of Esposende will not follow the 25-year-old striker in the Spanish capital. Comforted by the Emir of Qatar, attaching great importance to the harmony reigning between his sporting director and his coach (which could often have been a black spot in the past between Thomas Tuchel and Antero Henrique or between Mauricio Pochettino and Leonardo) , the person concerned could therefore settle permanently in Paris.

Despite some criticisms that may have been made about him, in particular because of his proximity to Jorge Mendes, Luis Campos today seems to be unanimous. Although there are logically some disagreements with the Spanish coach, the two men are now moving forward hand in hand and recognizing each other’s work. Note, in this respect, that a first crucial meeting took place, at the start of the week, between the Portuguese and the ex-Barça coach in order to define recruitment priorities to strengthen the team. While the resumption of training and the launch of the 2024-2025 season have been set for July 15, Luis Campos will therefore be able to work calmly to shape the most competitive squad possible and thus satisfy the desires of the Ile-de-France technician. Yes, PSG is entering a new era but it will begin with a tandem already well known to Parisian supporters.
