PSG: Marco Asensio’s daring obsession

It was a strong bet that PSG made last summer. Free from any contract following his departure from Real Madrid, Marco Asensio had bet on Paris Saint-Germain to try to revive a career which was stagnant, even in decline. Little used in Madrid, he also had the ambition to play regularly again to position himself for the Euro with the Spanish selection.

But for now, it’s a failure. Even if he started some big matches – the first leg against Barça or the Ligue 1 clash against OL – he mainly had to make do with starts, and only started 13 League matches 1 (19 appearances in total), just as he has only started one of the 6 Champions League matches he has played in. He is therefore not necessarily used more in Madrid, even if it must be said that he also had to deal with injuries. For example, he was absent from September to the end of November due to a foot injury, and also missed the entire month of March due to a muscle problem.

He wants to remake himself

As indicated A.S., it’s a rather insipid season for him. But above all, the media explains that the player wants to continue and change the situation. He is convinced he can change the situation and find a starting place. And this, even if reinforcements are expected in the offensive sector. The departure of Mbappé should not change anything insofar as the Bondynois will be replaced.

Rather appreciated by Luis Enrique, the player trained in Mallorca also knows that next season, the analyzes and criticisms will logically be much less complacent and he will really have to start performing on the pitch. A participation in the Euro could possibly put him back on the right path, but in the meantime, Asensio knows he must do much better.
