The holidays are over, but the appetite of Paris Saint-Germain remains intact. Sovereign and undefeated at the level of Ligue 1, Luis Enrique’s team wants to confirm its supremacy by adding a new cup to its showcase, the Champions Trophy.
A title that the capital club has become accustomed to winning, despite some hiccups in its recent era. The Parisians will be big favorites in Doha for this event, especially as they find a Monaco team which they had tamed with authority on the Rock a few weeks ago (4-2).
Strong choices in midfield and attack
With which starting eleven? The group called for this trip to the Arabian Peninsula is quite exhaustive since it includes the undesirables Randal Kolo Muani and Milan Skriniar, but also the returning Presnel Kimpembe and a few titis from the training center.
Luis Enrique should nevertheless rely on what looks like his most competitive eleven. Gianluigi Donnarumma, who still bears the scars of his match in Monaco, is traveling but his replacement Safonov is ready. Defensive executives Hakimi, Maquinhos and Pacho are expected, while Lucas Hernandez is applying for a starting place on the left.
Strong choices will be made in the middle and in attack. 2 big questions persist: who, Warren Zaire-Emery or Fabian Ruiz, will accompany the Portuguese duo Vitinha-Joao Neves in the midfield? And will Désiré Doué be brought back into attack after scoring points, while Gonçalo Ramos is also gaining strength in a sector where Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé enjoy a certain status? No option should be excluded.
The expected lineup for PSG : Donnarumma – Hakimi, Marquinhos (c), Pacho, Mendes – Ruiz, Vitinha, Neves – Dembélé, Doué, Barcola.
