PSG mourns the disappearance of Artur Jorge

PSG supporters are in mourning this morning. A little earlier in the day, they mourned the death of Artur Jorge, former coach of the club (1991-1994 then 1998/1999), who won the 1993 Coupe de France, then the championship the following year. The Portuguese passed away at the age of 78, leaving behind part of the history of the Rouge et Bleu. Since then, PSG has taken on another dimension but has not forgotten its other golden period of the 90s, nor the men who helped it rise to the top. He has just published a press release in which he pays tribute to his former coach.

“Artur Jorge, the man with the famous mustache, won the title of French champion with the Rouge et Bleu in 1994. (…) In 1991, Paris Saint-Germain hired this erudite and French-speaking character, with the aim of win a second French championship title. In three years, the objective was achieved: Paris won a Coupe de France (1993), dazzled Europe against Real Madrid (4-1, 03/18/1993), before the coronation of French champion (1994 ). (…) He has not forgotten Paris Saint-Germain and in October 1998, returned to Paris after the dismissal of Alain Giresse. Five months after his arrival and after the departure of Charles Bietry, he was forced to leave the club in failure. (..)
