Stratospheric transfers have become commonplace in the world of football. Some clubs are actually ready to make follies to strengthen their workforce. And unsurprisingly, the most expenditure are those of the Premier League. Three English teams form the top trio of the ranking established over the last ten years per Top transfer windowmade from data from the specialized site Transfermarkt.
With colossal means, the stables from across the Channel do not refuse anything. Starting with Chelsea, which has been the club that has spent the most since 2014 with 2.62 billion euros invested in the acquisition of players. Their most expensive recruit? The Argentinian midfielder Enzo Fernandez, who arrived at the Blues in January 2023, from Benfica Lisbon, for the tidy sum of 121 million euros.
Manchester City is not far behind the London club. Over the past decade, the Citizens spent a total of 2.06 billion euros. Their last big madness dates back to the purchase of Jack Grenish, in 2021. A transfer which cost 117.5 million euros to the Sky Blues. Manchester United complete the podium (1.97 billion euros), the recruitment of Paul Pogba for 105 million euros having been its most important investment.
PSG and Monaco in the top 25
Unsurprisingly, Paris Saint-Germain also appears in the ranking. Fourth, the capital's club spent a total of 1.89 billion euros. The transfer of Neymar JR, bought 222 million euros from FC Barcelona in the summer of 2017, remains the most expensive transaction in the history of the club but also the history of football. Without forgetting the arrival of Kylian Mbappé, who cost no less than 180 million euros to the Qatari owners.
Another resident of Ligue 1 present in the top 25: AS Monaco, with a total of 974 million euros. The Principality club points to 19th place in the ranking. In Spain, FC Barcelona spent 1.59 billion euros. The Blaugranas thus point to sixth place in the ranking. Large surprise, despite its workforce of stars, Real Madrid only points to the eleventh place with 1.12 billion euros paid.
