Paris Saint-Germain are thought to have held a longstanding interest in Marcus Rashford, though an agreement has never come to fruition between the two parties.

Indeed, the Manchester United frontman – hailed as a ‘unique talent’ by ex-Red Robin van Persie – has previously been the subject of at least one concrete approach from the PSG; in the summer of 2022, Rashford was offered a lucrative wage offer of £400,000 per week to swap his boyhood club for pastures new in Paris, as reported by The Athletic.

Talks were held at the time, indicating that he was mulling over the proposal, though he ultimately decided to stay put in Manchester. PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi then heaped praise on the ‘really amazing’ player during the World Cup that same year and proceeded to confirm the club’s desire to sanction his arrival.

“We’re not hiding it. We spoke before. But the moment was not a good moment for both sides,” Al-Khelaifi revealed. “Today, if he’s a free agent, of course, we can talk to him directly, but we are not going to talk to him now. Let him focus on the World Cup. Then, in January, hopefully, if we’re interested, we will talk to him.”

Conscious of the Ligue 1 outfit’s lingering admiration for their No.10, United activated Rashford’s one-year contract extension in 2023, blocking him from talking to any foreign clubs or leaving for nothing the subsequent summer.

Since then, there have continued to be murmurings of PSG perhaps someday returning to test Rashford’s resolve, especially amidst such tumultuous times at Old Trafford. He is one player who’s struggled with fluctuating form, and judging by the frustrated figure he so often cuts during games, it takes a toll on him mentally.

That’s presumably why PSG are considering reviving their pursuit of the Carrington graduate. TeamTalk has come out with a fresh report detailing how the Parisians had contemplated a £75 million bid for Rashford following Kylian Mbappe’s departure to Real Madrid but were made aware that United would stand firm in their valuation of £100m.

After his career-best goalscoring campaign in 2022/2023, which saw him net 30 times in all competitions, Rashford was rewarded with improved terms when putting pen to paper on a five-year deal. As such, he is tied to United until 2028.

The extension hasn’t deterred PSG from plotting another swoop in 2025, though, and unless the situation in M16 has drastically improved by then, Rashford could well opt to bid farewell to his boyhood club.
