While the football world is ecstatic this Monday evening over the official signing of Kylian Mbappé for Real Madrid, one club is keeping a low profile in the wave of reactions and press releases that are hitting the news. However, Paris Saint-Germain already has its eyes fixed on a summer transfer window which promises to be very eventful to completely turn the page on the captain of the Blues. In the direction of departures as well as in the direction of arrivals. If certain players are at the end of their contract such as Keylor Navas, Layvin Kurzawa, Sergio Rico or Alexandre Letellier, other elements could also pack up and to everyone’s surprise, Presnel Kimpembe is no exception to the rule.
Operated again on the Achilles tendon at the beginning of December after a rupture in February 2023, the 28-year-old French defender had completed part of the training session, preceding the final of the Coupe de France against Olympique Lyonnais. If he participated in a few exercises with the rest of his teammates, the player trained at PSG then continued training individually. With 15 matches in 20 months of competition, the wait is endless for Presko. At the end of a white season, Presnel Kimpembe is still recovering from this serious Achilles tendon injury: “A difficult season, but filled with personal learning (…) Thank you for the unwavering support”the 28-year-old wrote in an Instagram post, accompanied by a photo of his scar.
Paris listening!
And according to our information, Parisian management no longer considers Presnel Kimpembe as untransferable. Indeed, Paris Saint-Germain will listen to offers, if a proposal deemed satisfactory is sent to the leaders of the Capital club. With numerous injuries in recent seasons and ever-increasing competition in defense with Marquinhos, Milan Škriniar, Lucas Hernandez, Danilo Pereira and even Lucas Beraldo, Kimpembe’s status is no longer the same as at a certain time.
However, Presnel Kimpembe is to date not a compulsory sale for PSG who extended it, a few months ago, until June 2026: “I am very happy to continue my story with my favorite club. I thank Paris Saint-Germain, its President and its supporters for the renewed confidence. I hope to wear these colors again as soon as possible”, even declared the main person concerned. It remains to be seen which European clubs would be ready to offer a solid project to Kimpembe. If this situation were to arise, Paris will listen attentively and be able to negotiate.
