This Friday evening, while Kylian Mbappé was quietly on the bench for the match between France and the Netherlands, the news broke in the French press. The new Real Madrid striker, who has fallen out with the Parisian management for refusing to extend his contract, is demanding 100 million euros from PSG. The capital club had decided not to pay the 25-year-old player’s last wages as well as several bonuses, believing that he had not kept his promises. Faced with this situation, Kylian Mbappé’s lawyers have decided to serve PSG with a formal notice and do not want to give up on this story.

Negotiations between the two clans have been ongoing for several weeks. And this Saturday, a few hours after the publication of the article on this affair, the Spanish daily Brandreveals some additional juicy information. If Mbappé is still demanding what is due to him, PSG believes that he is clearly within his rights. The French champion club believes that the Blues striker had indeed given his agreement not to leave on a free and had even confirmed it publicly in the mixed zone last summer: “We managed to protect all parties and preserve the club’s serenity for the challenges to come, which remains the most important thing. So, we’ll say that it’s secondary.”

PSG believes that Kylian Mbappé has given his word

In its defense, Paris mentions in particular the letter sent (in the summer of 2023) by Kylian Mbappé to the management to indicate his intention to leave for free in the summer of 2024, but with the desire to protect the club. The two months’ salary had been withheld while waiting to find an agreement after the gentleman’s agreement between Nasser al-Khelaïfi and KM7. According to the Madrid media, the outcome of this case will depend on the legal relevance of this verbal agreement before the court. PSG could even go so far as to use statements from witnesses present at this meeting, namely Luis Campos and Luis Enrique. The Portuguese sporting director and the Spanish coach heard Kylian Mbappé give his word.

Finally Yes Brand explains that it is likely that a solution between the two camps should be found, he also reveals that the amount of 100 million euros is far from reality. Indeed, Kylian Mbappé receives 75 million euros gross per year and even with the bonuses, since PSG only owes 2 months of salary, it is impossible that PSG’s debt is 100 million euros. In any case, despite this first warning sent by the player’s entourage, this case could be settled without going to court.
