In recent days, we learned that Atletico Madrid were very interested in Manchester City’s Argentinian striker, Julian Alvarez.

The 24-year-old could leave the club this summer as he has no place in Pep Guardiola’s squad, but at present a move to the Spanish capital appears extremely difficult.

Atleti can only afford a loan as they cannot get close to Man City’s asking price for Alvarez. Unfortunately for Diego Simeone, Andrea Berta et al, the Premier League champions will only consider permanent offers, as Fabrizio Romano reports, even if their primary intention is to retain his services.

Good news for Paris

Atletico Madrid already knew that this move could be extremely difficult to pull off, but judging by this information, it will be virtually impossible to get their hands on Alvarez this summer.

It remains to be seen whether a permanent deal is being considered by club officials, although significant sales would be necessary to raise the funds required to bring Man City to the negotiating table. All this, knowing that PSG has been hot on this issue since the departure of Kylian Mbappé.
