PSG: Xavi Simons will leave on loan this summer

With the departure of Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid several weeks ago, we could imagine Xavi Simons embodying the future face of this PSG 2024/2025. But clearly, this will not be the case. Arriving at the club in 2019 from FC Barcelona, the Dutchman has so far only played 11 small matches, a total which is not expected to increase between now and next season. If the Ile-de-France club has expressed its desire to repatriate its player, notably through the voice of Luis Enrique, the Dutch international does not hear it that way.

In recent weeks, the Spanish technician had been very complimentary towards Simons: “He’s another player who belongs to the club. He’s on loan and he’s excellent. He has the perfect qualities for what we want. It could obviously be a very interesting option for us but it depends on the clubs., he declared on his Twitch channel. It must be said, it is difficult to remain indifferent to the season of the attacking midfielder loaned to Leipzig (32 matches, 8 goals, 13 assists), and who has established himself among the best players in the Bundesliga this year.

Xavi Simons does not want to return

In recent weeks in the media, Leipzig had for its part expressed its desire to extend Simons’ loan, under the voice of its sporting director Rouven Schröder. To date, there is no indication that the Dutchman will play in Leipzig next season, but what is almost certain is that he will be loaned out again. According to our information, Simons has in fact made his decision several weeks ago: not to return to PSG this summer.

If he is linked to the Ile-de-France club until 2027, the player trained at La Masia will definitely leave on loan. Moreover, if there was not this clause in his contract, stipulating that a transfer this summer would allow PSV to recover compensation for the operation, Paris would have already sold him. Quite simply because the club held a double-talk towards Simons, in the sense that certain managers (not Luis Enrique) were not completely convinced by the player. It’s going to change this summer.
