Quinta Brunson is officially sick with awards.

She just became the second Black actress to win in the category of Outstanding Actress in a Comedy. She’s also the first in more than 40 years after Isabel Sanford.

Accepting her Emmy from presenter Carol Burnett, Brunson couldn’t hold back the tears.

“Oh man, thank you so much I don’t even know why I am so emotional, the Carol Burnett of it all,” she said. “I love making Abbott Elementary so much and I am so happy to be able to live my dream and act out comedy. Brunson won her first Emmy for the ABC comedy in 2022. She plays Janine Teagues in the comedy that she also created.
