Rachel Zegler & Kit Connor Talk About the Unique Audiences at Broadway's 'Romeo + Juliet'

Rachel Zegler and Kit Connor are currently making their Broadway debuts together in the new production of Romeo + Juliet and they’re opening up about the unique audience interaction they’ve experienced so far.

The co-stars talked about the show during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (September 30) in New York City.

Romeo + Juliet is being performed at the Circle in the Square Theatre, the only house on Broadway that places the audience completely around the stage for a full in-the-round experience. Rachel and Kit have said that being so close to the audience has led them to hear things being said by fans during the show!

Rachel said, “You can see everybody and what’s been really wonderful, we’re only a few previews in, but it’s so awesome to feel like you really have an audience. And they’re responding to us verbally.”

“There’s a line I say, ‘Was ever book containing such vital matter so fairly bound?’ And someone was in the front row going, ‘No.’ It was awesome,” Rachel said.

Kit added, “I had the exact same thing with, I think, the same person on the same night. I was like, end of a massive fight, I’m sort of there panting like not sure what to do. And then I just hear like, ‘Romeo, walk away.’ My immediate thought was just like, ‘Wow, she’s really into it.’”

It was announced recently that a limited number of floor seats will be available for every performance, putting audiences at the edge of the action each night. Get your tickets now while they’re still available. The production will end on February 16, 2025.
