The outcry continues to grow. A few days after the publication of a video showing Enzo Fernández and other Argentinian players singing a racist chant against the Blues, Leandro Paredes tried to put out the fire in turn. Like Alexis Mac Allister or Rodrigo De Paul before him, the former PSG player defended his teammate, stating that there was absolutely no ulterior motive behind this chant.

I think this scandal came out of nowhere, because we have a very different way of experiencing football from others. Obviously, without wanting to disrespect anyone, and without having the slightest thought of this kindhe explained in remarks reported by TyC Sports. We are not a racist country, far from it. We have an incredible group of players with a lot of respect for everyone. As Enzo said on his Instagram, he apologized and we have to stop there“, he concluded. Words that will convince, or not, his audience.
