Rajkummar Rai has been impressing fans with a variety of roles on the big screen and his most recent release, Stree 2 is proof. The actor – who also starred in Srikanth and Mr & Mrs Mahi in 2024, recently got candid about his name and why he dropped Yadav from it. Read on to know why he did it.

Rajkummar Rao on dropping Yadav from his surname

During a recent interaction with YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra, Rajkummar Rao opened up about why he changed his name. Stating that it was to avoid confusion since multiple people go by that name in the film industry, the ‘Stree 2’ actor said, “Aisa koi rule nahin hai (to change name after entering the industry). Maine kabhi surname use kiya nahi tha. Mere passport mein bhi sirf Rajkummar hee tha (There’s no such rule. I had never used a surname before. Even in my passport, it’s just Rajkummar).

The ‘Srikanth’ actor continued, “This is for people to not get confused as to which Rajkummar you are talking about. Rajkummar Hirani, Santoshi, Gupta or this one. And Rao is a title which is given to Yadavs, so I started using it.”

Upcoming projects

On the work front, Rajkummar has a couple of projects in the pipeline, including Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Bhul Chuk Maaf. As per reports, VVKWWV will release later this year and BCM will make its way to the audience in 2025.
