Rakul Preet Singh recently took her social media to respond strongly to comments made by Telangana Minister Konda Surekha regarding her. The actress addressed allegations suggesting that Bharat Rashtra Samiti Chief KT Rama Rao was responsible for introducing Telugu actresses to drugs, clarifying that she has no association with “any person or political party.”

Minister Surekha had previously accused KTR of being linked to parties involved in drug-related activities and implicated him in the divorce of actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. She further claimed that he had a role in pushing female actors into drug addiction.

“The injustice towards Samantha stems from KTR. Two or three actresses have rushed into early marriages due to drug-related issues. Rakul Preet got married, as did a couple of others. Why should we endure this headache of drug cases and feel compelled to marry quickly?” she stated, also suggesting that KTR had utilized his influence to threaten actresses by tapping their phones and collecting compromising records.

In response to these developments, actor Nagarjuna Akkineni has filed a criminal and defamation case against Minister Konda Surekha in a Nampally court.

Rakul stated, “Telugu Film Industry is known worldwide for its creativity and professionalism. I’ve had a great journey in this beautiful industry and still very much connected. It pains to hear such baseless and vicious rumours being spread about the women of this fraternity. What’s more disheartening is the fact that this is being done by another woman who’s supposedly in a very responsible position. For the sake of dignity, we choose to remain silent but it is misconstrued as our weakness.”

She added, “I am absolutely apolitical and have nothing to do with any person/political party, whatsoever. I urge to stop using my name in a malicious way to gain political mileage.”

“Artists and creative personalities should be kept out of political slug fest and their names should not be used to grab headlines by linking them with fictitious stories,” Singh added.

Rakul Preet Singh’s upcoming film

On the work front, Rakul will be seen next in De De Pyaar De 2, which is a sequel to the 2019 film.
