Ramsdale’s huge blunder does not weigh down Arsenal

Arsenal snatched victory (2-1) against Brentford and put enormous pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City before Sunday’s clash.

Arsenal virtually took control of the Premier League and carried out an excellent operation on Saturday, during the 28th day of the championship. The Guners suffered against Brentford at the Emirates, but ended up winning (2-1) thanks to a headed goal from Kai Havertz on a cross from Ben White (86th). It was already White who, in the first period, had delivered an offering to Declan Rice, again with a nice header, to open the scoring (19th).

The matter could have been resolved more easily without Jack Ramsdale’s incredible error just before the break. While the referee of the match, Mr. Jones, was preparing to send everyone to the locker room, the Arsenal goalkeeper completely missed his restart under pressure from Yoane Wissa. Very happy, the former Lorient player equalized in cathedral silence (45th + 4).

Ramsdale and… loan deal almost cost dearly

Thanks to this sluggish but valuable success, Mikel Arteta’s men will be able to settle into their sofa with serenity and optimism on Sunday. Indeed, Liverpool and Manchester City, who trail the Londoners by one and two points respectively, face each other on Sunday for one of the most important shocks of the season.

Jack Ramsdale was relieved not to have cost his team two points after the match. The English goalkeeper had not played since last January and a Cup match. Arteta had faith in David Raya in recent weeks, but the latter was not eligible for this meeting. It was indeed Brentford who loaned the Spaniard to Arsenal during the off-season, including a clause prohibiting the Gunners from playing him during clashes between the two teams. More or less, this agreement could have proven extremely profitable for the visitors…

In any case, the Bees remain 5 points ahead of the relegation zone, 10 matches from the end of the season.
