Randy Orton commands respect not only from wrestling enthusiasts but also from his peers in the industry. While The Viper has garnered admiration over the past decade, it’s undeniable that he had a reputation for unpredictable behavior backstage during his earlier years. Despite this, Orton has opened up about his greatest disappointment in his career.
WWE has witnessed numerous wrestling dynasties over the years, and Randy Orton belongs to one of them. As a third-generation superstar, he followed the legacy of his grandfather, Bob Orton, and father, Bob Orton Jr. However, Orton’s most regrettable moment in his career involved his father during the 2005 Hall of Fame ceremony.
During an episode of WWE Evil, Randy Orton disclosed that the night before the event, he stayed up late with a group of individuals he knew he shouldn’t be associating with. Consequently, he felt “out of it” while inducting his father.
The former world champion admitted that he hadn’t prepared a speech, and although he spoke from the heart, he felt unable to do justice to his father. The disappointment of the Hall of Famer was palpable, leaving a regrettable mark on Orton’s career.
“I had not come up with a speech. I spoke from the heart, but I didn’t do my father justice. That look of disappointment on my father’s face! If I have any regrets as far as my career goes, that’s probably it!”
Thankfully, things are much better for The Apex Predator as he is well respected in the industry. For now, Orton is focused on his match against Logan Paul and Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 40, so we’ll have to see who will prevail in the bout.
