Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 on Saturday thanks to late goals from Dani Caravaj and Vinicius Junior. That made for a disappointing night for Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho, but at least the result gave departing centre-back Raphael Varane a reason to celebrate with his son.

There is no denying that Real Madrid fans have been spoilt in the Champions League, witnessing the club jump from nine titles to fourteen in the space of the decade.

On Saturday night, Los Blancos won their fifteenth European Cup after a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund looked the better side at half-time when the game was goalless, though Madrid looked comfortable. The La Liga champions know how to play football at this level better than anyone else and it showed.

The second half was played at a quicker tempo. It was better for the neutral, but maybe not Dortmund who struggled with Madrid’s corner kicks. That was how Carvajal opened the scoring.

It was Vinicius Junior who put the game to bed when a mistake allowed Jude Bellingham to play him in before the Brazilian finished with his left foot.

Varane celebrates Real Madrid’s win with son

As a former Real Madrid, Varane enjoyed Saturday night at Wembley, just one week after winning the FA Cup in the same stadium.

The Frenchman attended the match with his son and both of them posed mid-celebration at full-time. He posted a picture on Instagram, writing: “Hala Madrid again and again!! The 15th is already here.”

Varane won four Champions League titles during his time at Madrid. He is now in the final weeks of his contract at United, after already announcing that he will be moving elsewhere this summer.

Where next for Varane?
